Wow ! Finally I got the real forum for gujjars all across India. Believe me I have been searching for this since months. I myself belong to Gujjar community from Khandesh i.e Jalgaon in Maharashtra. I have read few comments here from my brethern from different part of the countries. I look forward to have a long inning of discussion and interaction in this forum. Let me tell you about our community in Jalgaon. We are small community in Jalgaon area, population may be 2-3 Lakh not more than that, divided again into different subcastes like Gujjar - dode, badgujjar, rewa, lewa, gahiri etc. Mostly farmers, some very rich some very poor, but lagging behind in education. I myself is from dode gujjar community and hail from a very prominent well educated family backgroud. My grandad from mom side was first graduate from our community who also travelled to Australia and was a class one officer in goverment few decade back. My mom and aunt, first woman graduates in our community and my dad a first doctorate (Ph.D) in our small community ! Well the idea is not to boast but to give you an idea on state of affairs as far as education is concerned in our community. Recently we have seen improvement in the situation with many youngsters working prominently with IT companies in India and abroad. Well to cut short, I wanna know if any historical document is available of the gujjars in Khandesh. We claim that Vir Prataprao Gujjar, senapati in Shivaji army was from our gujjar community. We also claim that we are decendents of Prithiviraj chavhan. We do have surname or kul like solanki, chauvhan, deshmukh, pawar, suryavanshi, jadhav etc that match with high caste marathas in Maharashtra. Any clue or comment or eveidence / with luv avinash
